Description
Industrial Hygiene is the science and art devoted to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of those environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace, which may cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or significant discomfort among workers or among the citizens of the community. It is executed through a structured process—worksite analysis to identify hazards, environmental monitoring and sampling to measure exposures, and evaluation of risks from various factors. Based on findings, industrial hygienists recommend engineering controls, administrative measures, or personal protective equipment to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
